Ruined building, Ebing / Breitengüßbach
Reconstruction attempt of an ruined building
In the autumn of 2016, more than 300 stones and pieces of wood
were found during dredging work for the recast of the riverbed of
the Main as part of the expansion of the ICE train line at Ebing
and Breitengüßbach. Since almost all parts showed traces of making,
it became clear pretty quickly that these were the remains of a
destroyed building. In collaboration with the company ArchDienst
Archaeological Services, which carried out the archaeological work,
all parts were first recorded and cataloged.
Through intensive research, a plausible reconstruction proposal in
the form of a bank fortification with jetty could be provided. This
was then visualized as a virtual model.
