Dragon wing

3D structured lights can of an art object

As a feasibility study, the wing of a gypsum modeled dragon by the sculptor Hannes Dauer was scanned with the 3D structured light scanner Comet L3D. This scanner is ideal for this task as it should preserve the smallest details in the scan. With this method it was possible to record the art object in tenths of a millimeter range.
The data thus obtained can be used, for example, for a 3D printing of the model or subsequently also for the production of a casting mold.
